Psychedelics and Trauma Healing
As I was getting ready to write our blog about the benefits of Psychedelics for trauma healing, my dear friend Clara O’Rourke, who is a Doula and owner of Clear Light Birth, told me that the podcast episode in which I had been her guest was ready for release. I had never done a podcast interview, and doing so about my personal experience with infertility made me feel very vulnerable. I had talked to Clara in the past about my experience, and especially about how Ketamine assisted therapy has helped me with processing the hardships, both physical and emotional of infertility.
Psychedelics and Connections to Others
At Aracari Healing we are very interested in and excited by the potential for psychedelic treatment to enhance connections between individuals. In learning about the benefits of psychedelics we have seen that people report improved connections with others in various ways. For example, in one study,[1] prior to a trial of psilocybin most participants described themselves as “trapped in my mind,” or “disconnected from others.” After the psilocybin session most participants had a large shift, describing themselves as “connected to others,” and “connected to the world.”
Understanding Therapeutic Versus Recreational Use of Psychedelics
Experiences with recreational use of psychedelics can vary greatly, with some finding it enlightening and others experiencing panic or anxiety or intense, frightening visions or thoughts sometimes referred to as a “bad trip.” It is our belief that the recreational use of psychedelics does not produce the maximal benefits possible. Psychedelic plants and medicines have a powerful impact in our central nervous system, particularly, in expanding our states of consciousness.
What You Should Know About Ketamine and Ketamine Assisted Therapy
A lot of people would like to know more about the “psychedelic renaissance” and psychedelic treatments. Maybe you have read an article about the therapeutic use of psychedelics or perhaps you read “How to Change Your Mind” by Michael Pollan and are curious about whether psychedelics could help you in some way. But whatever the entry point, recently, many people have begun to realize the potential of psychedelic medicines for healing and personal development.
